From Mike’s Bio
“Mike Clark is one of Alberta’s preeminent Saxophone Players” – Holger Petersen, host of CBC Radio’s Saturday Night Blues
“World-class, Alberta-based songwriter, recording artist, and producer Mike Clark is a staple on the music scene in his home province and across Canada, as well as internationally as a horn section member of Tommy Castro’s Revue on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruises.
While Mike is best known for his work as a saxophonist, he’s also an accomplished guitarist and singer who most often leads his own group, the Mike Clark Band. He’s also an in-demand sideman and studio session player. The busy musician owns his own club, Mikey’s on Twelfth in Calgary, a hot spot for music in the city.
Mike has released 5 full-length CDs, Saxman (2003), Clarkology (2004), Forever People (2017), Porch Sessions (2010), and his latest, Devil’s Playground (2020). All feature Mike’s original songs along with a few choice covers. All have received extensive airplay in Canada.
The Mike Clark Band has appeared at Calgary International Blues Festival, Regina and Saskatoon Midwinter Bluesfest’s, North Country Fair, Pembina Nights, Calgary’s Bluezha Paloozha Blues Circus, and at notable clubs such as Blues on Whyte, Buds on Broadway, the Blues Can, and of course his own popular club, Mikey’s on Twelfth (where they host their famous Saturday jam), among them.
Mike has received 4 nominations for the Maple Blues Horn Player of the Year, and was voted Sax Player of the Year for the Calgary Blues Music Association awards on two occasions. The Mike Clark Band was selected to represent southern Alberta at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and Mike performed with the Tommy Castro & the Painkillers on the LRBC (2020, 2022).”

Plus, Where We See An Opportunity If Possible We Want To Help Ukrainian War Refugees In Mexico. We’re Warred Out, To Turn A Phrase. Let’s Help If We Can Is Our Thinking.
It’s May 1. We’re feeling good. So is “Summer” or “Maggie May” (let’s let Rod Stewart and Ron Wood perform their ode to Maggie of May in the comments below). We’re not sure of our beautiful Latina model’s real name. I like “Summer”. Here she is standing at what looks like the Zihuatanejo Bay in Mexico telling us to go enjoy summer and all it has to offer because Winter Festing in Mexico comes soon after. And to tell you as well, that we’re pitching some clubs in Alberta and soon in Manitoba and elsewhere about a new campaign of ours for our summer travels. A night of great music in “Battle” format to discover at least one great act. The Battle To Go Mexico on January 26-29, 2023 in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, or another one of our event dates in places like Mexico City or Mazatlan. And as we always do, try to raise as much as we can for a very timely and worthy cause…perhaps something like “Peace…One Love…A Night For Ukrainian Refugees Resettling In Canada and the local community. We’ll keep you informed friends. Just wanted to tell you what we’re working on. Have a great May and summer months!
