So we’re here this morning to report that the ad hoc fun lovin’ rock ‘n blues event organizers, The Paraiso Society, had some Great Food And Drink Last Night At Madana Restaurant and Bar in Zihua Centro Madana. Our little Navidad get together and face-to-face chat. And we had some great stuffed animals and toys brought in for our “More Smiles For Kids At Christmas” campaign too. Plus we talked about who is going to open and close the 3-4 hour evening. The Blues Bros mid-evening. A big announcement coming on the weekend folks!
Madana from the frontThe Show RoomAnother View-The Show RoomLeft to right: Ken Ristau, Sharon Ristau, Aury Palacios, Victor Manjarrez, Kevin Lafond, Bob Rempel
Victor Manjarrez, owner-manager of Madana, and his excellent friendly staff treated us very well. We sat in the back room, the Show Room, where 50-60, more packed in and standing, will see their fabulous Blues Brothers Vegas Style Show on Saturday, January 21. Geoffrey Dahl and Chris Dahl from Toronto Canada region. “Best date night, best two dates nights in a row ever”, said Sharon Ristau, partner to Ken Ristau and long-time key volunteers with us. “They do this show almost year-round in big theatres in Germany, she said, and they are real pros. And it’s great fun”
So Ixtapa at Villas Paraiso Hotel on Friday night January 20 to kick of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week. Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Events & Fests Villas Paraíso Gomez Ricardo Villas Paraíso And then Zihua at Madana Madana January 21. Different Music Each Night. Two Distinct Shows.
The Original Blues Brothers
As Sharon said, “I think folks will want to go to both for maximum fun.”
See The Blues Brothers Tribute Show in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo only on Friday and Saturday nights January 20 and 21. Advance Ticket Purchasers Get Choice Of Best Seating In Order Of Purchase.
Many questions about the Schedule and which night will be the Best. I’d say January 28 is can’t miss if you put a “gun to my head” as the saying goes, but really the message has to be “Each Night Is New Music” And our Guarantee Is, “If You Hear Two Songs The Same By The Same Performer or Group On Two Different Nights, We’ll Buy You A Beer Or The Drink Of Your Choice” Jams and Collaborations excepted of course. That’s our time for “Best Of The Fest” music.
Just tellin’ it like it is. Some misunderstanding about how this all works. See you any night for maximum fun and enjoyment.
January 22 is now Mexico’s Got Talent Showcase in Zihuatanejo at Madana Restaurant & Bar. January 26 at Ricardo’s Restaurante & Bar In Ixtapa. Performances and Jams and Collaborations. We’re Inviting All Local And Regional Mexican Performers Who Can Rock A Crowd To Get On Stage With Us. Yes, We Are Still Looking For That Local/Regional Act That Can Join Us At The Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Fest on the January 27-29 Weekend.
Plus We’ve Declared Friday, January 27, the opening night of the Festival as British Columbia and Alberta day. Home provinces of David Gogo and Charlie Jacobson. If you’re from B.C. or Alberta, we’ve got a Special Merch Promotion and Extra Tequila Sample for you that day. Saturday is Rest Of Canada (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Maritimes) day for Chris Ghidoni from Manitoba and all the other great folks from Canada. Same benefits. And Sunday is USA and Mexico Day. Who Will Bring The Biggest Crowd? Who Will Represent Best?
Much More News To Come As We Countdown The Days To The Opening Day, January 20. The Blues Brothers Tribute Show by Geoff and Chris Dahl is all set and our great friends of our Fest and of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo already have their plane tickets in hand. But more news on the first weekend soon. It’s going to get even better.

We’re Back With Day 3 Announcements. We Tell You More About Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week January 21-29, 2023.
One Of The Changes We Have Made For The Big Reboot In 2023 Is That We Want To Be A Community-Based Festival in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. So That Means We Want To Be In Various Locations Throughout The Two Communities.
We told you about our plans to use the Zihuatanejo Cultural Centre, near the beach, for our Shows on January 21 and January 22. Subject to finalizing discussions with the City of Zihuatanejo. Yesterday we told you about our plans to have a big open-air concert for all at the Zihuatanejo Basketball Court in Centro on Thursday, January 26. It’s a Mexico Talent Showcase from us, along with the Introduction and Short Performances from many of the Fest Performers that are already in Ixtapa-Zihua at that time.
Today we tell you we are also in advanced discussions with the Zihuatanejo Government to have the opening night of the Go Mexico-Go Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festival at the Zihuatanejo Cultural Centre in Centro Zihua. Friday, January 27. We have made a commitment to the Zihuatanejo City Government that we will provide seed funding in 2023 for a “School of Rock” for young Mexico students to learn rock, blues and jazz skills, at the Cultural Centre. And more in the future, for every year we are using the Facility.
Then for Saturday night January 28, we go back to Villas Paraiso Hotel and Ricardo’s Restaurant, in Ixtapa, longtime friends and supporters of the Fest. We were here for our “Best Fest Ever”, as everyone said to us, in January 2020. And then Covid, the Corona Virus shut down our momentum. That brings us to now 2023, the Big Reboot!
Two of the last songs performed at our 2020 Fest before the Covid Pandemic shut us down for 2 years. As it did everyone else of course, so just sayin’.
The All Star Band Ends The Night January 18.
Chris and Geoff Dahl (The Blues Brothers Tribute) are Excellent Musicians in their own right. With Evelyn Rubio, Gil Gaidola and Charlie Jacobson. From January 2020 Just Before The Corona Virus Shut All Live Events Down.
And for Sunday afternoon jams and more on January 29, we are planning to take you right to the Ocean. A beachside end of the Fest, starting mid-afternoon, with a couple of short sets and then some can’t miss, always unique, one-of-a-kind, All Performer Jams to close out the 2023 Festival and “Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week. Details on Sunday, January 29 coming very soon. Think Ocean, Waves, and The Sea. But we’ve given you the venue’s conceptual plan.
The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week Goes To The Community in 2023.

Jersey Boys Show is world famous and we’ll show you the great reviews Marc gets for his shows. No exaggeration here. The Crooners show is the music that Michael Buble might present…featuring Bobby Darin, Buble’s own, Others, and in particular features the Chairman of the Board, Ol’ Blue Eyes, a trip down memory with Frank Sinatra music. Geoff and Chris Dahl as The Blues Brothers are non-stop entertainment and comedy from start to finish, we kid you not, and if you haven’t seen their show before, you’ve missed the best of The Blues Brothers and Motown and Soul Music. Great voices. Never disappoint. Highly professional Everybody has told us after one of their shows, “Bring them back, bring them back”.

It’s not quite Searching for Sugarman, but we’re serious about finding that one great band, or performers, maybe more than one, ready to be a big fan favorite at our Go Mexico rock and blues events-always for fun in the sun, always for a great cause or causes, in the winter 2022-2023. Who wants Mexico at the beach in the warmth in January? February? March?
It’s May 1. We’re feeling good. So is “Summer” or “Maggie May” (let’s let Rod Stewart and Ron Wood perform their ode to Maggie of May in the comments below). We’re not sure of our beautiful Latina model’s real name. I like “Summer”. Here she is standing at what looks like the Zihuatanejo Bay in Mexico telling us to go enjoy summer and all it has to offer because Winter Festing in Mexico comes soon after. And to tell you as well, that we’re pitching some clubs in Alberta and soon in Manitoba and elsewhere about a new campaign of ours for our summer travels. A night of great music in “Battle” format to discover at least one great act. The Battle To Go Mexico on January 26-29, 2023 in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, or another one of our event dates in places like Mexico City or Mazatlan. And as we always do, try to raise as much as we can for a very timely and worthy cause…perhaps something like “Peace…One Love…A Night For Ukrainian Refugees Resettling In Canada and the local community. We’ll keep you informed friends. Just wanted to tell you what we’re working on. Have a great May and summer months!

We Are Fully Committed To Our Brand Tag Lines: Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festival & Events: Always For Great Causes, Always For Fun, Always For Great Live Music In The Warmth Near The Beach.

Why We Continue To Plan For 2021 & 2022 And Continue To Build Our Live International Rock ‘n Blues Music Festival And Associated Events In Mexico So We Can Increase Our Support For Local Causes and Benefit Local Businesses And Their Employees.
Natalia Ruiz Gomez of the Claudio Bigotes Memorial Animal Shelter of Toluca/Mexico City And Choco, the young part Doberman rescued from the street, who needed extensive Vet. treatments.
Our Current Total Of Contributions To The Community From January 1998 To Today After Funding All Costs Of Staging The Festival Through Cash Flow Is 170,390 pesos.
An Additional Donation of 5, 000 pesos Was Made In Early April To The Claudio Bigotes Memorial Animal Rescue Shelter In Toluca/Mexico City For Special Veterinary Treatment Needed.
From Funds Raised During The 2020 January To March Events As Reported In Our March 2020 Report To The Community, (See Below) We Contributed 12,200 pesos to Amigos de Animales of Barra Potosi, $10,730 pesos to the Claudio Bigotes Memorial Animal Rescue Shelter, and 3,000 pesos to Vicente Contreras, our 14-year-old guitar prodigy, for continued training in guitar from our Realizing Potentials Fund. There is a further pledge to Vicente of another 3,000 pesos following the successful completion of phase 1 of his new training.
Vincente Contreras, 14 years old of Ixtapa-Zihua.
And then Covid-19 struck. Many performer friends of our Festival, suddenly were unable to perform live in public for payment or tips. We made an “executive decision” in late April to reallocate 9, 000 pesos from our Realizing Potentials Fund to help, in a small, but meaningful way still we felt, and provide support three Mexican rock ‘n blues groups who have always given our Cause Fests their time and performance without demands for payment.
Now we are looking forward to January 2021 and 2022. In addition to continuing to support our 2020 Street Animal Rescue organizations and the Realizing Potentials Fund, we also wish to support Local Businesses and their Employees who were devastated by Covid 19 and help kickstart Mexico Tourism Recovery.
You will see some interesting announcements soon on our new plans to support both Local Business and their Employees and Mexico Tourism Recovery overall while continuing support for our ongoing Causes.
As always, we sincerely welcome the Feedback and Suggestions of our Fans And Past Donors.
