We know Kristel, she knows Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and our Audience, and we highly respect her musicianship and so do other musicians. We mentioned David Gogo and Charlie Jacobson of Canada in that breath. So we had no fear about her bringing musical Friends from Morelia!
Friends like Oralia Band possibly. She mentioned them to us yesterday as the talking about how to best put this together continues. What do you think folks? Wow, this video was very impressive. And we’re not that easily impressed.
We’ll keep talking to Kristel and let you know soon what the final lineup of Friends might look like. But count on it to be rockin’ and lots of fun. An international lineup. And music and performers and show concepts you can’t just go and hear any day you want. Always! That’s who we are!
So we’re here this morning to report that the ad hoc fun lovin’ rock ‘n blues event organizers, The Paraiso Society, had some Great Food And Drink Last Night At Madana Restaurant and Bar in Zihua Centro Madana. Our little Navidad get together and face-to-face chat. And we had some great stuffed animals and toys brought in for our “More Smiles For Kids At Christmas” campaign too. Plus we talked about who is going to open and close the 3-4 hour evening. The Blues Bros mid-evening. A big announcement coming on the weekend folks!
Madana from the frontThe Show RoomAnother View-The Show RoomLeft to right: Ken Ristau, Sharon Ristau, Aury Palacios, Victor Manjarrez, Kevin Lafond, Bob Rempel
Victor Manjarrez, owner-manager of Madana, and his excellent friendly staff treated us very well. We sat in the back room, the Show Room, where 50-60, more packed in and standing, will see their fabulous Blues Brothers Vegas Style Show on Saturday, January 21. Geoffrey Dahl and Chris Dahl from Toronto Canada region. “Best date night, best two dates nights in a row ever”, said Sharon Ristau, partner to Ken Ristau and long-time key volunteers with us. “They do this show almost year-round in big theatres in Germany, she said, and they are real pros. And it’s great fun”
So Ixtapa at Villas Paraiso Hotel on Friday night January 20 to kick of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week. Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Events & Fests Villas ParaÃso Gomez Ricardo Villas ParaÃso And then Zihua at Madana Madana January 21. Different Music Each Night. Two Distinct Shows.

The real deal folks. You may not have heard her name but you will remember her when you see her live here in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Mexico, January 21-29, 2023.
Chris Ghidoni
When well-known saxman and vocalist Mike Clark of Calgary, had to bow out of coming to Mexico in 2023, we knew we had a big hole to fill…tell you more on November 8…the Chuck Berry Tribute…but he gave us one great thing…a strong recommendation, based on him seeing her live recently, that we bring Chris Ghidoni here to fill the role we mentioned above. And so we are.
We know you’ll love friendly and unassuming Chris, from Brandon, Manitoba Canada with the big guitar chops and strong blues rock voice when we get her live with us in Mexico.
Here’s a couple of her videos and then her bio below. Join Chris and say “Gotta Go” To Mexico!
Chris Ghidoni is a blues rock guitar player and singer from Brandon, Manitoba. She grew up listening to some great bands, including The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top, and found BB King later on her own which led her to discover many other great blues artists. Other influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Freddie King, Albert King, and Colin James.
Chris has been playing blues and rock guitar for years around Western Manitoba and Winnipeg and also in Vancouver. She has opened and shared the stage with Winnipeg’s Big Dave McLean and many other well-known top performers. The Chris Ghidoni Band has played at The River City Blues Festival March, 2019, Women in Blues at the Park Theatre in November 2021, and the Regina Blues Festival in March 2022 and all over western Canada, including the famous Rockin’ The Fields Rock Festival in Minnedosa, Canada.
On September 4th, 2022, Chris released her first original EP called How We Say Goodbye. It’s available to stream or purchase on Bandcamp.com, Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.
Chris said Yes “Gotta Go”.. To Mexico when we asked. Please join her and all our other great performers in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico January 21-29, 2023 when we present The Big Reboot 2023. Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festival. Watch for more details about our Lineup and Schedule coming November 8th when we officially launch our 2023 Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week and the Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festival. Now in our 6th year since January 2018 when we first began.
We’ve Been Doing Our Unique For The Cause For The Fun Fest Concept Since 2018 And We Thought You Might Like To Know What Some Of Our Rock ‘n Blues Fans Thought Of Past Events.

David Gogo of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, world-class blues rocker, is coming back to Mexico, to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo to headline our 2023 Fest and help us reboot Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festivals & Events. He was with us in 2018 in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo when we first launched our Blues & Rock Events as part of an all-star band. “Not enough of David performing”, we heard a lot. So now he returns to Headline the 2023 Fest and gets us relaunched. We’re thrilled to tell you this, thrilled to have him back. A Big Heart of the finest variety with great support for the Kids and Animal Causes we help.
David Gogo Montreal Jazz Festival 2016, Bell Canada Stage
David Gogo is a six-time Juno Award Nominee and a three-time recipient of ‘Guitarist of The Year” at the Maple Blues Awards. Gogo’s accreditations further extend to accolades such as ‘Musician of The Year’ at the West Coast Music Awards, ‘Blues Recording of the Year’ at the Western Canadian Music Awards; and The Great Canadian Blues award. Now, the veteran Canadian bluesman David Gogo has released his sixteenth full-length album ‘Silver Cup’. This acoustic affair was recorded at Gogo’s home with longtime friend Steve Marriner, who produced and performed on the album. Silver Cup arose during the COVID pandemic and subsequent shutdown of live music as Gogo found time to reflect on his life, heritage, and career.
Great in jams and collaborations which we love and so do our fans, and quiet and friendly and down-to-earth as a person, we couldn’t have asked for a better Headliner to step up and say “Yes, I want to Go Mexico-Go Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo And Create Some Great Blues & Rock Explosions” Are you ready to join David? Hey it’s cold everywhere else at that time, isn’t it? January 26-29, 2023. Fun in the Sun, The Music of Our Lives For Great Local Causes…Street Animals, Street Kids, More. One Of The Changes We Have Made For The Big Reboot In 2023 Is That We Want To Be A Community-Based Festival in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. So That Means We Want To Be In Various Locations Throughout The Two Communities.
We told you about our plans to use the Zihuatanejo Cultural Centre, near the beach, for our Shows on January 21 and January 22. Subject to finalizing discussions with the City of Zihuatanejo. Yesterday we told you about our plans to have a big open-air concert for all at the Zihuatanejo Basketball Court in Centro on Thursday, January 26. It’s a Mexico Talent Showcase from us, along with the Introduction and Short Performances from many of the Fest Performers that are already in Ixtapa-Zihua at that time.
Today we tell you we are also in advanced discussions with the Zihuatanejo Government to have the opening night of the Go Mexico-Go Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festival at the Zihuatanejo Cultural Centre in Centro Zihua. Friday, January 27. We have made a commitment to the Zihuatanejo City Government that we will provide seed funding in 2023 for a “School of Rock” for young Mexico students to learn rock, blues and jazz skills, at the Cultural Centre. And more in the future, for every year we are using the Facility.
Then for Saturday night January 28, we go back to Villas Paraiso Hotel and Ricardo’s Restaurant, in Ixtapa, longtime friends and supporters of the Fest. We were here for our “Best Fest Ever”, as everyone said to us, in January 2020. And then Covid, the Corona Virus shut down our momentum. That brings us to now 2023, the Big Reboot!
Two of the last songs performed at our 2020 Fest before the Covid Pandemic shut us down for 2 years. As it did everyone else of course, so just sayin’.
The All Star Band Ends The Night January 18.
Chris and Geoff Dahl (The Blues Brothers Tribute) are Excellent Musicians in their own right. With Evelyn Rubio, Gil Gaidola and Charlie Jacobson. From January 2020 Just Before The Corona Virus Shut All Live Events Down.
And for Sunday afternoon jams and more on January 29, we are planning to take you right to the Ocean. A beachside end of the Fest, starting mid-afternoon, with a couple of short sets and then some can’t miss, always unique, one-of-a-kind, All Performer Jams to close out the 2023 Festival and “Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week. Details on Sunday, January 29 coming very soon. Think Ocean, Waves, and The Sea. But we’ve given you the venue’s conceptual plan.

Updating You About Our Support Of Mexico Causes & People. March 2020 to September 2020. Our Report To The Community And Particularly Our Loyal Fans And Donors About Our Support Of the Community.
We Are Fully Committed To Our Brand Tag Lines: Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Festival & Events: Always For Great Causes, Always For Fun, Always For Great Live Music In The Warmth Near The Beach.
We Want To Do More, We Know We Can Do More. With Your Support And Assistance.
Why We Continue To Plan For 2021 & 2022 And Continue To Build Our Live International Rock ‘n Blues Music Festival And Associated Events In Mexico So We Can Increase Our Support For Local Causes and Benefit Local Businesses And Their Employees.
Natalia Ruiz Gomez of the Claudio Bigotes Memorial Animal Shelter of Toluca/Mexico City And Choco, the young part Doberman rescued from the street, who needed extensive Vet. treatments.
Our Current Total Of Contributions To The Community From January 1998 To Today After Funding All Costs Of Staging The Festival Through Cash Flow Is 170,390 pesos.
An Additional Donation of 5, 000 pesos Was Made In Early April To The Claudio Bigotes Memorial Animal Rescue Shelter In Toluca/Mexico City For Special Veterinary Treatment Needed.
From Funds Raised During The 2020 January To March Events As Reported In Our March 2020 Report To The Community, (See Below) We Contributed 12,200 pesos to Amigos de Animales of Barra Potosi, $10,730 pesos to the Claudio Bigotes Memorial Animal Rescue Shelter, and 3,000 pesos to Vicente Contreras, our 14-year-old guitar prodigy, for continued training in guitar from our Realizing Potentials Fund. There is a further pledge to Vicente of another 3,000 pesos following the successful completion of phase 1 of his new training.
Vincente Contreras, 14 years old of Ixtapa-Zihua.
And then Covid-19 struck. Many performer friends of our Festival, suddenly were unable to perform live in public for payment or tips. We made an “executive decision” in late April to reallocate 9, 000 pesos from our Realizing Potentials Fund to help, in a small, but meaningful way still we felt, and provide support three Mexican rock ‘n blues groups who have always given our Cause Fests their time and performance without demands for payment.
Now we are looking forward to January 2021 and 2022. In addition to continuing to support our 2020 Street Animal Rescue organizations and the Realizing Potentials Fund, we also wish to support Local Businesses and their Employees who were devastated by Covid 19 and help kickstart Mexico Tourism Recovery.
You will see some interesting announcements soon on our new plans to support both Local Business and their Employees and Mexico Tourism Recovery overall while continuing support for our ongoing Causes.
As always, we sincerely welcome the Feedback and Suggestions of our Fans And Past Donors.
We’ve Only Just Begun!…Stealing A Song Title There.
