Announcing The Perfect Performer For The Chuck Berry Tribute Show And For Our Mexico Let Yourself Go Fun Fest…Charlie “You Can Call me Chuck” Jacobson

Not only is Charlie a fan favorite in Mexico, so bringing him back for The Big Reboot is a “no-brainer”, but he is also one of the few we could think of that could give us a great Chuck Berry Tribute. From the famous Chuck Berry duck walk to Chuck Berry’s big hits, we are very confident that Charlie will give you a great show. Mr. Versatility, a multi-instrumentalist, is sought out as a session musician for his lead guitar play and is equally at home with blues, rock, and rockabilly. Always an energetic stage performance.

When we had to replace Mike Clark from Calgary, who had to bow out for personal reasons, we found another Alberta Canada performer (based out of Red Deer) who will fit right in. The glove fits! Happy to tell you today, Charlie is getting his Chuck Berry Tribute and all his other material, polished up for Mexico in January.

Your not sure about Chuck Berry’s music, the man that every up-and-coming blues rock and rock musician from the early 60s onward idolized. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones to start. He is in our opinion the true father of modern rock n roll. John Lennon said, “Another name for rock ‘n roll, you could call it Chuck Berry” Here’s a great article from Rolling Stone magazine to get you into Chuck Berry’s music.

Live from Canada
Live from Mexico

Bio:
Charlie Jacobson is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Red Deer, Alberta. He has backed up and been backed up by some of the Canadian blues and blues-rock giants: Harpdog Brown, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Russell Jackson, David Vest and Donald Ray Johnson, to name a few.  All of this foundation-building paid off. Charlie’s guitar appears to be part of his body when he’s on stage, like a third arm. It is not uncommon to see him weaving through crowds and jumping from drum kit to table, while singing his heart out, and never losing a note on the guitar.  His first full-length Album was released was in 2015 titled “Alberta Flood” Two more since.

Charlie always brings the great music, a willing attitude for anything jams and collaborations, and equally importantly, always brings the fun and a great spirit. Now with a great new tribute show and music, in homage, and interpreting Chuck Berry’s music that he will present in Mexico for the first time. Join Charlie and the rest of our great performers and say “Si, Go Mexico, Go Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Go Playa/Beach” January 21-29, 2023, when its cold everywhere else. Ticket info is here at this site at the Festival Tickets page.

You told us Stay True to the Blues, but you said don’t be afraid to bring us More Rock…the Great Music of our Lives Kind. So we ask. What about a Chuck Berry Tribute?

Two Show Concepts Below But First Today We Tell You About Two Performers From Canada That Will Join Us. One is a lead guitar-slinging female vocalist from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada who we are proud to present to you as an Emerging Star. Chris Ghidoni. The second is a well-known name in the Calgary and Western Canada Blues Rock Scene. Mike Clark on lead vocals and saxophone. Big Hearts, Big Talent, we’re very pleased to present them to you.

We’ve been telling you about two Show concepts for months already. Both are good enough that you should consider making the trip from Canada and USA or elsewhere in Mexico for them.

For Blues & Blues-Rock Lovers: The 3 Kings Tribute Show: Spread Over 3 Days We Pay Tribute To The Music of Blues Legends, B.B. King, Albert King, and Freddie King with approximately 8 songs from each. Performed by the Chris Sanchez Blues Band of Morelia Mexico. Chris was born and schooled in blues guitar in Chicago, USA. With keys, harmonica, and a 3 piece horns section. And all performers at the Fest will be invited and most welcome to join in on additional jams or collaborations. Folks, the 3 Kings Tribute Show is Our Signature Blues Event For 2023. Worth the trip to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo alone, even if you don’t like great beaches and fun in the sun while it’s cold everywhere else.

For Rock Lovers: The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones Music Battle will delight everyone who loves to sing along and dance. Two bands who truly form a big part of The Music Of Our Lives. It will also be spread over three days of the Festival, it will be presented by our Mexico City supergroup. Joseph Leal, lead vocalist of The Folks will do The Beatles songs, Jagger (stage name) of the Stick Fingers band will do The Rolling Stones songs just like Jagger. Moves like him too. And they have a lot more music to provide us. Adrian Macotela is the lead vocalist and drummer for Desafasados of Mexico City. He will add Creedence vocals, Grand Funk, and many other classic rock songs. Torke Ross is on lead guitar, and he will add lead vocals on 3 Souls in Mind classic Spanish rock songs and on The Doors music and more. Carlos Rodriguez Chavez, like Torke, from 3 Souls In Mind, is on bass guitar.

More to come rock and blues lovers, and future names will be equally as good as all these very talented performers we introduced today. Stay tuned!

Summer lovin’ then comes winter festin’,,,have a great live music summer friends!

It’s May 1. We’re feeling good. So is “Summer” or “Maggie May” (let’s let Rod Stewart and Ron Wood perform their ode to Maggie of May in the comments below). We’re not sure of our beautiful Latina model’s real name. I like “Summer”. Here she is standing at what looks like the Zihuatanejo Bay in Mexico telling us to go enjoy summer and all it has to offer because Winter Festing in Mexico comes soon after. And to tell you as well, that we’re pitching some clubs in Alberta and soon in Manitoba and elsewhere about a new campaign of ours for our summer travels. A night of great music in “Battle” format to discover at least one great act. The Battle To Go Mexico on January 26-29, 2023 in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, or another one of our event dates in places like Mexico City or Mazatlan. And as we always do, try to raise as much as we can for a very timely and worthy cause…perhaps something like “Peace…One Love…A Night For Ukrainian Refugees Resettling In Canada and the local community. We’ll keep you informed friends. Just wanted to tell you what we’re working on. Have a great May and summer months!

Hola!

It’s last-minute we know but still enough time to make this great. If you have a stage and sound and backline equipment (drums, amplifiers, monitors…often your favorite band can supply that and perform with us as well), we have an opportunity for your bar or restaurant for music at no cost to you for the weekend of February 3-6, 2022.

Alternatively, we are looking at the option of performing at open-air venues for the largest possible audience.

Background: We publicly announced a venue in July for our first Puerto Vallarta Event. That verbal agreement seems to have fallen through. Lessons learned and we’ll be smarter next time.

But that creates an opportunity for a new partner for our Tequila Rock ‘n Blues Explosions events.

We have planned our first fundraising rock ‘n blues live music event for Puerto Vallarta for February 3-6, 2022.

We have a great lineup of performers ready to come in and support the fundraising for Street Animal Rescue Mexico, our cause for the 2021-22 winter season. We bring in the “Big Hearts” we call them.

Seventy-five percent of the fundraising from the Events we do in Puerto Vallarta will go to the local organizations like SPCA Puerta Vallarta and others that apply for funding. Primarily for neutering and medical treatment campaigns to existing organizations or veterinarians. The rest of the funds go to projects in other parts of Mexico. We are in the process of making contact with all of them now to create partnerships to work together on this fundraising weekend in P.V.

It starts with a special opening night concert by our headliner Chris Duarte. On Thursday February 3. A legend in blues-rock. Clearly one of the best guitarists in the world. And he “plays his ass off for the fans” as one fan said in a quote. From Austin, Texas. Often compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan. 14 albums. Tours extensively. Humble and a great guy. Perfect for our fest. And then Chris, and his partner Beth Lee, who is coming to Puerto Vallarta as well, will perform throughout our Fest, Electric country rock and soulful country from Beth.

Opening night, Thursday, February 3, Gil Gaidola, lead vocalist and lead guitarist of Mystic Highway, one of Canada’s top Creedence-John Fogerty Tribute Bands, who loves Mexico, who loves animals is ready to perform in Puerto Vallarta or region, as well. At your bar or restaurant. And then throughout the Friday through Sunday Fest as well.

We have Mexican performers as well. We always try to have a good blend. Viri Roots from Mexico City one of Mexico’s best blues voices will be a key part of our Bob Marley Tribute, and Fonzeca CPP Project a four-piece group from Monterrey, Mexico led by Fonzeca Alexander, who has been named one of Mexico’s top male blues voices every year the past 10 years.

In addition to the Bob Marley Tribute, Chris Duarte will help lead our Jimi Hendrix Tribute and Gil Gaidola will lead our Creedence-John Fogerty Tribute. Music that is familiar to the fans and your guests. But each will do their own originals and cover songs throughout the Fest as well so fans will get the best of both worlds.

Plus we wish to feature at least one, possibly two to three local groups and performers. This way your very good and favorite local performer or band can be part of the Fest too. And we will bring in one or two more Mexican or USA performers and announce them by mid-January once we have a Venue firmly in place and we know how the lineup looks.

Please don’t think you have to accept our plan and approach 100% without a chance to talk and us to listen. We are looking to create long-term venue partners in Puerto Vallarta and every other community we go to.
