Charlie Jacobson is a fan favorite and he’s coming back to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo with a special Chuck Berry homage and his own music.

Charlie creates fans and friends wherever he plays. On stage, he is the consummate showman with his lead guitar playing. He already has the Chuck Berry duckwalk down pat. His guitar and music skills are top of the line. Also a sought after lead guitar session musician, and a multi-instrumentalist, he came from a music-performing family. Learned to play and perform at an early age. It shows on stage.

He’ll be here for the Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Fest, our 2023 Big Reboot, for the Fest Weekend January 27-29, 2023. Don’t miss his Chuck Berry, Johnny B. Goode Show, and much of his own music too. Charlie and 50-60’s Rock and Rockabilly Music are a natural combination. And Blues too. His version of Muddy Water Blues is excellent.

We’re hoping his schedule might allow us to add him as well to the Shows Weekend, one week previously. Let him collaborate with Geoff and Chris Dahl, The Blues Brothers, excellent musicians in their own right, and with Marc Lopez, our Crooners performer. We’ll let you know soon.

Here’s Charlie on stage in Ixtapa 3 years ago. With Evelyn Rubio, Geoff and Chris Dahl, and Gil Gaidola. All great friends of the Fest, Big Hearts…we love them all. The Magical Nights are coming back friends!

The Mexico City Supergroup….They Need A Name…The Rockin’ Chilangos maybe?

We’ve Put Together A Great Supergroup We Truly Believe. We Saw Three Of Them Perform With Us At Our December 2021 Big Hearts For Street Animals One Day Fest Event In Mexico City: Torke Ross, Carlos Rodriguez Chavez, and Eduardo Resendiz (Jagger Stone Stage Name). And Then We Added A Good Friend Of Our Fests & Events from the past, vocalist and multi-instrumenalist Joseph Leal, whose band The Folks, performs Beatles songs in tribute. Adrian Macotela, lead vocalist and drummer of Desfasados was scheduled to come as well, but a new job has just recently forced him to withdraw for this time. We are pleased to tell you we have added Max Najera, drummer for The Rockets, on drums for the Supergroup. And the blues harmonica maestro of Mexico, also from Mexico City, Isidoro Negrete Reynoso, will contribute harmonica breaks on selected songs. Maybe we need a Mexico City saxophone player too?

So many Beatles and Rolling Stones songs you know and love that you’ll hear live, but for fun today let’s add some a Beatles and Rolling Stones song here in video. Beatles doing a Chuck Berry song, and the same for The Rolling Stones. Both idolized Berry. So that leads us to tell you that you can also get Chuck Berry in Tribute at our Fest on that weekend with a Special Show we have so set up. Charlie “Call Me Chuck” Jacobson of Canada with his “Johnny B. Goode” Tribute Show To The Music Of Chuck Berry. The roots of modern Rock and Roll.

Chuck Berry did it first. And he wrote it.
The Rolling Stones first single. By Chuck Berry.

See You In January In Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico For The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones Challenge and some great Chuck Berry music too.

Announcing The Perfect Performer For The Chuck Berry Tribute Show And For Our Mexico Let Yourself Go Fun Fest…Charlie “You Can Call me Chuck” Jacobson

Not only is Charlie a fan favorite in Mexico, so bringing him back for The Big Reboot is a “no-brainer”, but he is also one of the few we could think of that could give us a great Chuck Berry Tribute. From the famous Chuck Berry duck walk to Chuck Berry’s big hits, we are very confident that Charlie will give you a great show. Mr. Versatility, a multi-instrumentalist, is sought out as a session musician for his lead guitar play and is equally at home with blues, rock, and rockabilly. Always an energetic stage performance.

When we had to replace Mike Clark from Calgary, who had to bow out for personal reasons, we found another Alberta Canada performer (based out of Red Deer) who will fit right in. The glove fits! Happy to tell you today, Charlie is getting his Chuck Berry Tribute and all his other material, polished up for Mexico in January.

Your not sure about Chuck Berry’s music, the man that every up-and-coming blues rock and rock musician from the early 60s onward idolized. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones to start. He is in our opinion the true father of modern rock n roll. John Lennon said, “Another name for rock ‘n roll, you could call it Chuck Berry” Here’s a great article from Rolling Stone magazine to get you into Chuck Berry’s music.

Bio:
Charlie Jacobson is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Red Deer, Alberta. He has backed up and been backed up by some of the Canadian blues and blues-rock giants: Harpdog Brown, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Russell Jackson, David Vest and Donald Ray Johnson, to name a few.  All of this foundation-building paid off. Charlie’s guitar appears to be part of his body when he’s on stage, like a third arm. It is not uncommon to see him weaving through crowds and jumping from drum kit to table, while singing his heart out, and never losing a note on the guitar.  His first full-length Album was released was in 2015 titled “Alberta Flood” Two more since.

Charlie always brings the great music, a willing attitude for anything jams and collaborations, and equally importantly, always brings the fun and a great spirit. Now with a great new tribute show and music, in homage, and interpreting Chuck Berry’s music that he will present in Mexico for the first time. Join Charlie and the rest of our great performers and say “Si, Go Mexico, Go Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Go Playa/Beach” January 21-29, 2023, when its cold everywhere else. Ticket info is here at this site at the Festival Tickets page.

We had a little chat with our Main Man, our big Kahuna, our Master of the Guitar And Blues-Rock Vocals, yesterday. Says again he’s all in and wants to help get all his fans and friends to join him in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Mexico in January, 2023. A quiet, but friendly and funny guy he will make many new friends here as well.

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rock ‘n Blues Explosion Fest dates are January 26-29, 2023. Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Rocks Week starts January 21 & 22 with two great Vegas-style shows including The Blues Brothers Tribute and Jersey Boys and much more.

David mentioned he had been in Calgary appearing at the Calgary Bluesfest in late July and just recently was in Las Vegas appearing at the Big International Blues Bender Festival with MonkeyJunk and music colleague Steve Marriner, also from Canada.

We share some great David Gogo music from the Big Blues Bender…the man knows how to play his guitar and sing the blues, rockin’ style…it’s a must watch video,

Get up close and personal with David and all our other great Blues and Rock performances and shows. The beauty of our Mexico Fests. Intimate, fun, rockin’ always. Fest Passes with a choice of best seating and at Earlybird pricing are now on sale here. Bring your friends. Great for groups.
