Tequila Blues Explosion Festival is truly, “The Festival That Love Built”. Live music events for a cause and for the community is the Tequila Blues mission.
Over 400 visitors from Canada, USA and many other parts of  Mexico attended the three-day event at the Ixtapa Event Centre in Ixtapa showing a strong base level of interest for a blues, blues-rock, jazz and reggae music festival by the beach.  There were 34 performers from Mexico, with 6 from Canada and USA.
Festival organizer, Bob Rempel said, “we are pleased that In spite of greatly increased costs, and some unexpected expenses as we transitioned to full Festival status with a three-day event, we were still able to significantly help the Talita Cumi orphanage. Â Of course, we would have liked to have done more with more support. The kids were a treat to have at the Festival every night with their songs, and their final night’s full participation with The Blues Brothers show was a Festival highlight and a priceless memory.”
We thank our performers, sponsors, and fans for helping us to continue to support the excellent work of  Talita Cumi orphanage. We’ve requested Talita Cumi develop a music program, with guitar and piano lessons for the children, which we would help continue to grow.  As well we support the continued development of the Orphanage facility and other programs to serve more children in need in this community.
On a less positive note, Rempel noted the challenges ahead for the Festival. Â “The performers provided great music and great shows, and vibe in the audience each night was very positive, however, we still feel we have much work to do to get music fans, governments, sponsors and the local community to fully embrace us, fill the venue and guarantee that the Festival remains here in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo as a permanent fixture with high-quality well-known performers every year.”
Rempel added that from those who attended Year II of Tequila Blues, feedback has been very positive for a continuation of the Festival, however, organizers have said they wish to see the response to the upcoming Tequila Blues Concerts For A Cause series for Talita Cumi. Â Current plans are for three more events, possibly five, in 2019.
The first one is January 26 with a full 3 hour plus Beatles Tribute show at the Ixtapa Event Centre beside Frank’s Restaurant in Ixtapa. Â For more information on The Beatles show: https://www.facebook.com/events/167454297383097 Additional dates are February 9 (performer announcement on January 26) and February 23 for The Doors Experience Show.
